Songmene Winnie Dorothé is a Cameroonian artist born on January 03, 1995 in the town of Dschang (West Cameroon), where she still works today. Before her real encounter with the visual arts in ninth grade, the expressive beginnings of her being were made through writing. She welcomed the idea of going to art school, and for two consecutive years took drawing classes during the vacations. After obtaining her Baccalauréat, she joined the Institut des Beaux-Arts de Foumban in 2014. There she obtained a bachelor's degree in sculpture and a master's degree in drawing and painting (2018). With her ebullient interior and great sensitivity, Winnie's work is a journey of self-discovery. It aims to reveal her, to tell herself and others; to arouse feelings in everyone, those things to be felt that words alone are not enough to translate. "In humain", as she likes to call it, is, so to speak, an exposure, an expression and an exaltation of feelings, of the ecstasies of a moment. She attended the studio of artist Herve Youmbi, as well as the Artkéo workshops. Winnie participated in the first edition of Annie Art Discovery, a project initiated by AKA Gallery Douala (2022); as well as "Avis de Tsunami" (2017), the 4ᵉ edition of Women art connects by ZeeArt Gallery Dubai (2020), the group exhibition "Abstraction" by the contemporary art center Doual'Art (2020).
