Biography

Born in 1998, Yaoundé CM, Mautik (full name- Frank Maurel Zangue Tikombouo) , is a self-taught artist who decided to assume his own identity in 2016. From an early age, through classical drawing, he grew up keeping his passion intact, far from suspecting that a strong artistic potential was already burgeoning in his country. Later, when he discovered it, he immersed himself in other categories of art (acrylic painting, digital art, design) by joining an artists' collective. Mautik has been involved in local art events for over 6 years, and has developed, always self-taught, his working technique, which can be categorised as mixed media. His style, or at least his artistic vision, is strongly influenced by spirituality/symbolism, African culture and utopia! According to him, art is like the wind: present everywhere and in everything, but impossible to control.
