On the occasion of the RENCONTRES DE L'APAV, Edition 2024 (Association des Professionnels d'Arts Visuels) to be held from October 30 to November 13, 2024, in Douala, Cameroon, the association is launching a call for applications from Cameroonian artists.
The Association des Professionnels d'Arts Visuels (APAV) is a Cameroonian-registered association of visual arts professionals from a variety of disciplines, headquartered in Douala. APAV works to promote the visual arts in a spirit of solidarity among its members.
otherwise known as RENCONTRES DE L'APAV, Edition 2024 (Les Rencontres de l'APAV 2024), is a major event organized by APAV from October 30 to November 13, 2024, in Douala. This event consists mainly (IN), of an exhibition of works of Visual Arts, talks/causeries and OUT, of numerous events organized by partners, under the general theme: CONVERGENCE. It's the meeting, cohabitation, confrontation, exchange or questioning of themes, styles, personalities and know-how of Visual Arts Professionals operating in Cameroon and elsewhere.
This exhibition (named EXPOSITION CONVERGENCE) presents the work and activities of artists from different disciplines of the Visual Arts, members of APAV, in themes as free as they are diverse. The exhibition includes a sale, with the exhibitor agreeing to donate 30% of sales to APAV.
CALL FOR PARTICIPATION IN CONVERGENCE EXHIBITION
The Association des Professionnels des Arts Visuels (APAV) warmly invites Visual Arts Professionals, Artists and Creatives wishing to participate in EXPOSITION CONVERGENCE, to make their works and artistic projects available.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING WORKS :
September 22, 2024, at the national headquarters located at Terminus Akwa-Nord, at the home of Mr. Jean EMATI.
CONSTITUTION OF THE PARTICIPATION FILE :
Entries must include :
A complete application form
A curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages, Word or PDF format).
A short text presenting the artist's practice.
Visuals of the artist's work (JPEG format).
The visuals must be in color, legible, captioned, specifying the artistic discipline practiced, the materials and technique used, as well as dimensions/weight and other characteristics (if necessary) and prices (if necessary).
03 works: 2D (drawing, painting, photography, silkscreen, engraving, digital arts, etc.) or 3D (sculpture, ceramics, mosaics, fashion design, architecture, etc.) less than 60x60cm in maximum dimensions.
02 works: 2D (drawing, painting, photography, silkscreen, engraving, digital art, etc.) or 3D (sculpture, ceramics, mosaics, fashion design, architecture, etc.) from 60x60cm to 100x100cm maximum dimensions.
01 work : 2D (paintings, photos, serigraphs, engravings, digital art, etc.....) or 3D (sculpture, ceramics, fashion design, etc...) from 101x101cm to 120x120cm maximum size.
01 work: video art (DVD, DVD player and TV; or projector and screen), installation, performance art, multimedia art (technical specifications to be specified) Complete entry files to be sent by e-mail to: lesrencontresdeapav2024@yahoo.fr, no later than September 22, 2024.
NB : Incomplete entries or entries sent after the deadline will be rejected.
PARTICIPATION IN THE CONVERGENCE EXHIBITION - RULES
Date The first edition of EXPOSITION CONVERGENCE will be held in Douala from October 30 to November 13, 2024.
Participation The call for participation is open to Professional Artists, members of APAV residing in Cameroon or abroad, working in various disciplines and activities in the visual arts.
Exhibition venues Works will be exhibited at : Annie KADJI Arts Galery (AKAG). (Subject to any changes in this regard, which will be communicated to you in due course).
Transport and deposit of works: The works must be transported and/or deposited at the national headquarters in Douala, located at Terminus Akwa-Nord, at the home of Mr. Jean EMATI, no later than September 22, 2024. APAV will be responsible for the return of the works.
