The Adama Toungara Museum of Contemporary Cultures (MuCAT) is an independent, non-profit contemporary art museum located in the commune of Abobo in Abidjan in Ivory Coast. The museum is an initiative of the Toungara Foundation for Art and Culture. The museum opened its doors on March 11, 2020 with the pan-African traveling exhibition entitled “Prête-moi ton rêve ” presenting around fifty works by 28 renowned African artists. Built on an area of 3,500 m², it is the first museum entirely dedicated to contemporary art in Ivory Coast. The MuCAT aims to be both a reflection of African and international creation, but also a mirror of creativity for Ivorians. MuCAT has two exhibition halls and a fully equipped 65-seat conference room. The large exhibition room is built on an area of 400 m² and the small room on a room of 120 m². Committed to the process of renovating the image of Abobo, the museum is fully part of an approach to promoting the Abobo destination. The Adama Toungara Museum, a godsend which will attract Abidjanis who do not usually go to Abobo, as well as foreign tourists. MuCAT also has a library that can host meetings, press conferences, training, and seminars. Entrance to MuCAT is free.
