Contexte

Dans le cadre du projet Art of Inclusion (ADI). Femmes et jeunes artistes, artisans et créateurs pour le changement, le développement durable, l'inclusion et l'innovation sociale promus par l'Association Centro Orientamento Educativo (COE ) en partenariat avec l'Institut de Formation Artistique (IFA) de Mbalmayo et Ingegneria Senza Frontiere - Milan (ISF-MI) et cofinancée par l'Union européenne (UE), un appel à candidatures pour une résidence d'artiste est ouvert à la Libre Académie des Beaux-arts (LABA) de Douala.
L'appel à résidences est une opportunité d'échange et d'expérience pour les artistes (femmes et jeunes, artisans et créateurs) ayant une pratique professionnelle de la création contemporaine : (peinture, sculpture, installation, photographie, dessin, céramique, design , stylisme, vidéo). , etc.). Le projet proposé pour la résidence doit démontrer un lien avec la promotion du rôle de l'art dans la construction d'une société juste et égalitaire, notamment dans les relations entre hommes et femmes.

Dispositions pratiques

L'artiste séjournera dans l'unité résidentielle du professeur invité du LABA;
L'artiste séjournera dans l'unité résidentielle des professeurs invités du LABA ;
Les charges d'eau et d'électricité sont payées par le LABA ;
L'artiste en résidence au LABA disposera d'espaces de travail et d'équipements (dans la limite des moyens du projet ADI et du LABA) pour mener à bien son projet de création : espaces et équipements HUB, comme espace de création, de confrontation et de co-création. avec des artistes, artisans, créateurs cibles et étudiants ;
espace d'exposition pour mettre en valeur le travail de l'artiste et celui du projet réalisé lors de la résidence.

L'artiste peut également :
suivre certains cours du cursus du LABA ;
avoir accès à d’autres opportunités de formation et d’échange au LABA HUB ;
avoir l'opportunité de connaître les acteurs et activités artistiques des quartiers de Douala et d'autres territoires, et de s'en inspirer, avec possibilité de co-création.
L'accès au wifi du LABA est fourni à l'artiste pendant la résidence ;
Une assistance technique pourra être apportée dans la limite des moyens du projet et du LABA ;

Engagement du Bénéficiaire

The beneficiary undertakes to :
- work continuously on the campus and in the spaces made available during the residency period (minimum 4 days per week) ;
- present their work publicly during the residency period, in accordance with the ADI project and LABA's schedule of activities and areas of intervention;
- participate in LABA exhibitions and specialized workshops, if scheduled during the residency period;
- take part in public events (schools, neighborhoods, conferences, etc.) organized by LABA and the ADI project;
- not to give up the use of the spaces made available during the residency to outsiders not authorized by LABA management;
- to keep the workshops and equipment provided for their work in good condition.

Composition of application :

The beneficiary undertakes to :
- Photocopy of valid national identity card
- curriculum vitae (mandatory) ;
- creative project and statement of intent (mandatory) of one page maximum, presenting the artist's approach to this residency;
- presentation/portfolio of the artist's work;
- Any other document that may help to appreciate the artistic experience of the candidate for the residency.

Selection criteria

- Complete application file
-Relationship between the project and the objectives mentioned in the “context” section of the call for applications
- Quality and originality of artistic approach
- Feasibility of the project and its suitability for the place of residence (LABA)
- offer of mediation with the public
- Age limit (maximum 35 years old)

Jury

A committee of visual arts professionals and experts will examine the applications. Applications from female artists are particularly encouraged: Artistic director of the ADI project, Head of a contemporary art center, Independent curator, Professional artist, LABA representative, Visual arts teacher-researcher.
Publication of results

The committee is not required to justify its decision. Candidates whose projects are selected by the jury will receive a reply by email on June 19, 2024 to audition (face-to-face or remote).
Final results will be made public on June 21, 2024.
NB: The final decision is final and cannot be challenged by any legal means. The commission is not required to justify its decision.
The residency is scheduled to start on June 24, 2024.
