Events The Forest Creative Loft presents the Symposium Going Back Through the Lane on January 20, 2024 in Douala

The Forest Creative Loft will be hosting a Symposium on Saturday January 20, 2024 under the theme Going Back Through Memory Lane. The Symposium will also serve a stage to present the the archive platform throughmemorylane.com. The Event will start at 2:00 pm.

Going back through memory lane is a project that was initiated to initiate a dialogue in response to the current situation of the political and social crisis in the Northern and Southern Western part of  Cameroon, the region commonly known as the anglophone side of the Country.

Because of the lack of spaces for conversation and information about the causes that led to it but also  the lack of transparency in regards to what is going on currently, we have initiated the creation of a digital platform that could serve as a collective digital archive including collected historical materials found in different personal and institutional archives, inter and intragenerational testimonies, we would like to present the fruits of our investigation in the framework of a symposium where we are inviting some of the interviewed voices, civilians, historians, politician, and artists to speak about The symposium will therefore be a public day of exchange and sharing of the results of this adventure started a year ago in the presence of visual artists, musicians, poets, participants and organizers of the project.

The guests of the symposium includes visual artists Boris Anje, Lilian Tati, Ateh-bi Nebright, and Aurelie Djena, Spoken word artist PenBoy, Entrepreneur and politician Edith Kahbang Walla, Association leader Nkwah Elizabeth as well as Pascal Ndjock Nyobe lecturer and researcher.

The Forest Creative Loft is located at 620, Rue Richard Bell Bali (Carrefour Montagne Manga Bell) in Douala.

Ruinart Festiv’ Art Returns For a Fourth Edition In Cameroon From October 24 to November 3, 2023

The 4th edition of the Ruinart Festiv'Art will take place in the partner galleries of the event located in the cities of Yaoundé and Douala from October 24 to November 3, 2023. The edition will be spread over six (06) dates including three ( 03) in Douala and three (03) in Yaoundé.

Runart Festiv’Art 2023’s major innovation is the exploration and highlighting of the state of connection between man and his environment. It will be structured around the theme: “Global impact for environmental awareness”. For the occasion, Maison Ruinart offers an inspiring platform to local artists to express their concerns and hopes regarding environmental impact. An already very specific hope for Arno Global Berverages (representative and exclusive distributor of the Ruinart house in Cameroon) which is in partnership with the Moet & Hennessy group as part of a recycling and transformation program for Ruinart glass bottles.

Thus, through various forms of artistic expression, the participating artists will examine the ecological impact of man on his habitat, while proposing reflections on the way in which art can be a vector of change and awareness. Several artists are announced at different openings and exhibitions. These include: Jean Michel Dissake, Wilfried Mbida, Sandra Kinuy, Leuna and Alida, Manfaust, Joël Mpa Dooh etc.

As a reminder, Ruinart Festiv’Art is an initiative from Ruinart. The festival created in 2019 works for the promotion and development of contemporary art in Cameroon and Pan-African on the one hand, by inviting artists from the continent who are recognized around the world on the artistic scene on the other hand. This relationship between Ruinart wine founded in 1729 and art dates from 1896 with André Ruinart.
