PICTO LAB is an annual residency program offering an artist the opportunity to experiment and create for three months (May-June-July) in Paris, within PICTO's network of laboratories and production workshops.
For this PICTO LAB program, a number of partners provide support and help publicize the work carried out by the artist-in-residence: the Picto Foundation, the salon approche, Fuji film and the Cité internationale des arts.
PICTO LAB aims to facilitate the development of a new project, in particular by giving a photographer the opportunity to test techniques and protocols, and to exploit them in unexpected ways, in order to go beyond or explore new possible fields for the image and its formal rendering. PICTO LAB is also a place for the photographer to meet and network with professionals likely to contribute to the development of his or her work, or to interact with the project that is the subject of the residency.

The studio
The studio-living option is organized around the provision of a furnished work and living space (workspace, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen) for the duration of the residency. The workshops are equipped with a wifi Internet connection. Some can be equipped with pianos. Available studio apartments range from 25 to 60 m².
The studio option is designed for artists who don't need a place to live, but rather a space to work. This option is organized around the provision of a furnished workspace (work table, seats) with a water point, for the duration of the residency. Workshops vary in size, from 30 to 40 m², and are all equipped with a wifi Internet connection.
Unfortunately, the workshops on offer do not meet current accessibility standards for people with disabilities, and we are working on this for the future.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the accessibility of the Cité internationale des arts.

Picto Foundation
Since its creation in 1950 by Pierre Gassmann, the PICTO laboratory has been committed to supporting and accompanying photographers in their projects and the evolution of their practices. Founded in 2016, PICTO FOUNDATION, the PICTO Endowment Fund, continues this historic commitment.
Centered on image experimentation, its programming aims to encourage creative initiatives and projects in which the methods of image conception and restitution are at the heart of the scheme.
PICTO FOUNDATION aims to support photographers in their contemporary explorations of the image, whether through the re-appropriation of old processes, experimentation with digital tools and new media, or digital innovations in image processing.
The Cité internationale des arts
The Cité internationale des arts is an artists' residence in the heart of Paris, bringing together artists to carry out a creative or research project in all disciplines.
For periods of two months to a year, the Cité internationale des arts offers artists the opportunity to work in a creative environment, open to encounters with cultural professionals. Residents receive tailor-made support from the Cité internationale des arts team.
In the Marais or in Montmartre, the studio-living (living and creative space) that residents enjoy enables them to cohabit with over 300 artists and art world players of all generations, nationalities and disciplines. In collaboration with its many partners, the Cité internationale des arts opens several calls for thematic and/or project-based applications throughout the year.
