Self-taught Nigerian artist Chidube Emmanuel (born 1996) lives and works in Lagos State. His creative process is rooted in the observation of everyday life, capturing fleeting moments of his immediate surroundings. His work explores a range of subjects, from intimate portraits of loved ones to urban scenes and occasional still lifes. Through compositions defined by a muted color palette and blurred rendering, Chidube seeks to evoke a sense of nostalgia. More recently, he has incorporated elements of expressionism by introducing slight distortions of the human figure and spatial manipulations. After studying Biological Sciences, Chidube fully committed to a professional art practice in 2021. In less than five years, he has already participated in several group exhibitions in Lagos State, including "Grow Up" at The Art Hotel Gallery on Victoria Island in 2022.
