Prince Toffa was born in 1977 in Cotonou (Benin). As a teenager, he worked as a security guard for prostitutes, before training in fashion design with Frédéric Akoukpé. Working alongside artists such as Charly D'Almeida and Dominique Zinkpé, he gradually moved into the plastic arts and built his own artistic identity, marked by his initial training. This led to the production of large sculptural dresses made from recycled objects such as cans, cups, wire, bags and plastic sacks. One of her works is featured in the L'Art dans la Cité exhibition, organized by the Fondation Dapper at the Rotonde des Arts in Abidjan in 2023. The artist also created an in situ performance to mark the opening of the exhibition.
