Born in 1996 in Daloa, Côte d'Ivoire, Juju Lago is a committed photographer. Through a series of studio portraits, he highlights the beauty and pride of albino people to combat the beliefs to which they are subjected. Born into a large family affected by albinism, Juju Lago was confronted from an early age with the marginalization of his relatives, often wrongly perceived as carriers of curses. Victims of sunlight and superstition, they also face major socio-economic and health challenges in a society that rejects them. His aesthetically pleasing portraits become a powerful means of reinforcing the presence of albinos in the public sphere and promoting positive role models. After starting out as an advertising photographer, Juju Lago finally turned to artistic photography. A finalist in the BJKD competition in 2023, he was also selected the same year for the Africa Foto Fair in Abidjan. Source : https://www.louisimoneguirandou.gallery/artists/124-lago-juju/overview/
