Born in 1995 in the West Indies on the island of Guadeloupe, Elladj Lincy Deloumeaux now lives and works in Paris. Deloumeaux graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2023. In the manner of the mangrove, a tropical ecosystem at the crossroads of forest and swamp, where all the trees intertwine and intertwine their roots at the bottom of the water, Elladj Lincy Deloumeaux's plastic gesture extends into the territories of imagination and history. His work involves experimentation and documentation, focusing on matrimonial, symbolic and spiritual images. He reappropriates the places and spaces he travels through through a gallery of portraits, fragments of an intimate history and of the great history of a unique territory, that of the West Indies. His work is a kind of initiatory journey, a reappropriation of an ancestral self that goes through a confrontation with its own darkness, before awakening to its own light. A passage from ignorance to self-knowledge that involves the “killing” of illusions. His work has been exhibited at Perrotin (Paris and Dubai), Cécile Fakhoury (Paris and Abidjan), Paris + by Art Basel (solo), Kó Artspace (Lagos), etc. Later this year, Deloumeaux will open his first solo museum show at the Museo Etorre Fico in Turin, and take part in the Dakar Biennale. source : https://bwoartgallery.com/fr/artists/32-elladj-lincy-deloumeaux/overview/
