Presentation

The National Museum of Cameroon is housed in the former presidential palace. This historic site, a place of memory of the country's political history, was assigned to the National Museum on November 17, 1988, thanks to a decision by the President of the Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya. The 15,000m² complex comprises a 5,000m² central building, a number of outbuildings and a garden. It contains a collection from all over the country, reflecting not only Cameroon's history but also the cultural identity of its ethnic groups.
