Ngamy Olsen, known by his pseudonym Sayane Kid, is a Congolese visual artist born in 1997 in Brazzaville. He currently lives and works in Pointe-Noire, the economic capital of Congo-Brazzaville. Specializing in digital art, he primarily creates on Android or iOS smartphones and tablets, which he considers his preferred tools. His artistic style is influenced by manga and comics, incorporating elements that reflect his Congolese and African roots. From an early age, Sayane Kid demonstrated a passion for drawing, starting with sketches on the ground before progressing to pencil and paper. Despite initial resistance from his family, he pursued his artistic calling with determination. In 2018, faced with financial constraints that prevented him from acquiring traditional art supplies, he began exploring digital drawing on his Android smartphone. He discovered applications such as Medibang Paint and IbisPaint X, which allowed him to innovate and develop his craft. Notable works include Boss Level, a comic book created in collaboration with the writer Deucvlion Art, and Invasion, a project he revisited and enhanced with skills honed over the years. He also published Kaba in 2019, recognized as the first Congolese manga. In recognition of his talent, Sayane Kid received the Création Africa Prize during his residency at the Maison des Mondes Africains in France. His most recent significant exhibition took place at the International Comic Book Meetings, where his work was showcased alongside that of thirteen other African comic book authors.
