Bunmi Bababtunde, born in 1957 in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, is a renowned contemporary sculptor whose artistic career reflects an unwavering dedication to the art of sculpture. He graduated from the Yaba College of Technology with a National Diploma (ND) in 1981, followed by a Higher National Diploma (HND) in 1983, and further enriched his experience through Nigeria’s National Youth Service Program, an essential program for young graduates. In 1984, driven by his passion to make art his full-time profession, Bunmi Bababtunde established his own studio in Lagos, where he has since been creating impactful and inspiring works distinguished by their unique style and profound themes. Babatunde’s sculptures are particularly notable for their fluidity and expressive depiction of dynamic subjects. Working primarily with materials like wood, bronze, and fiberglass, the artist successfully captures the grace and agility of human movement in his pieces.
