A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf, after studying at INSAAC in Abidjan, Jems Robert Koko Bi is now a major figure in contemporary art in Côte d'Ivoire and internationally. Both a sculptor and a performer, he enriched both his technique and his aesthetic throughout his training, from Klaus Simon's workshop in Abidjan, which he joined in 1992, to his stay in Germany, where he followed the teachings of Klaus Rinke, and which would become his host country.
