Sinenkosi Msomi (b. 1995) is an inspirational photographer who captures the intricate interplay between tradition and culture within the younger generation in Eswatini, a picturesque landlocked country nestled in Southern Africa. Msomi’s practice is deeply rooted in his upbringing within an expansive African extended family. He employs staged and conceptual photography to recreate the intricate dynamics of his childhood memories, evoking a sense of nostalgia and reflection. His work invites the audience to pause and appreciate the beauty found in simpler times while exposing the fluidity of memory and perception. Through his lens, the artist transforms intangible emotions into tangible conversations, urging us to openly discuss mental well-being.
