Ange Martial Méné, born in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, in 1977, and a 2002 graduate of the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts d'Abidjan (ENBA) and the Centre de Formation Pédagogique pour les Arts et la Culture (CFPAC), is a visual artist influenced by rock painting. He uses this ancient script as his mode of expression, drawing on the past to better understand the present. His work represents the continuity of an ancient civilization enriched by modernism. “In the beginning was innocence and purity”, this vision of things guides the artist in his work, taking him to the minimalism of forms and the sobriety of colors. The artist feels the need to express herself through matter, using different media and pigments: earth, kaolin, sand, bark juice... Backgrounds and forms form a whole in a dynamic fusion of materials.
