Presentation

Alex Peter Idoko, born in 1992 and also known as Alex Peter, is a talented Nigerian artist from Lagos. From a young age, he discovered his passion for art, particularly portrait painting, during his secondary school years. He quickly developed a strong interest in artistic techniques and gradually honed his skills by exploring various mediums such as pen, pastel, and pencil. However, what truly sets him apart is his mastery of pyrography, a complex technique involving the use of a razor, sandpaper, and a blowtorch to create fascinating artworks. His artistic style, which he describes as surrealist and hyperrealist, is notable for its precision and emotional depth. In addition to his technical virtuosity, Alex Peter’s works tackle powerful themes related to African realities and Black history. Through his art, he seeks to redefine and rewrite Black history by addressing the challenges and issues faced by these communities. His creations go beyond simple aesthetic representation; they aim to inspire future generations and give a voice to marginalized individuals who are often absent from public discourse. Alex Peter has had the opportunity to showcase his work in several prestigious galleries and art fairs around the world. Some of his notable exhibitions include the Omenka Gallery in Ikoyi, Lagos State, as well as Moniker Art Fair in New York and the Commonthread Exhibition in London. He also participated in the Context Art Miami Fair, further solidifying his international reputation. In 2016, he won the "Excellence Award" at the Benue Youth Choice Awards, which highlights his growing impact on both the Nigerian and global art scenes. Always striving for improvement, Alex Peter continues to explore new artistic perspectives, constantly seeking to refine his craft and create works that provoke thought and inspiration.
