Born in August 1994, Ethel Aanyu is a Ugandan photographer and painter based in Kampala. She graduated from Makerere University in 2018 with a BA in Industrial and Fine Arts, specializing in painting, sculpture and jewelry making. In 2020, she participated in the Kampala Art Biennale as an apprentice in Andrew Tshabangu's studio, where she began her photographic career. Her work uses digital layering techniques, combining black and white positive and negative images with inverted color ones, often staging herself to explore personal reflections.
