Presentation

Elaine Juteau is a hybrid interdisciplinary artist. Originally from Montreal, she settled in Saguenay for 9 years, where she completed an interdisciplinary bachelor's degree in art, a master's degree in art (theater) and then worked as a professional artist before officially settling in the Outaouais region, where she has lived since 2016. Director, actor, author, artist in theater, performance, installation, video, etc., she knows how to combine, glue, combine, combine. She knows how to combine, glue and work with all art forms, and that's what makes her work original and unique. Her latest theatrical creation “#Panser” (co-created with Natalie Fehéregyházi - Apuka Theatre) was presented in the Democratic Republic of Congo, following a month-long research residency at the Tarmac des Auteurs (in Kinshasa). Elaine Juteau is co-founder of Collectif Les Poulpes (Saguenay-Montréal-Outaouais), with whom she has been presenting various artworks in artist-run centers and in situ for the past 10 years. She is currently working on the publication of her artist's book SE TRACER - TRAZARSE by SAGAMIE Édition d'Art, due out in 2020. She is also co-artistic director of the Territoire 80 theater company (Montreal) and creates videos with Agnès Création (Outaouais). Her individual practice, based in the Petite-Nation region, blends intimate writing, collage, sound and video art. She is interested in the question of identity (particularly self-representation and identity fragmentation). Through sensitive work, she seeks to materialize the unspeakable. In the theater, she has appeared in plays by Théâtre Belvédère (Ottawa), Théâtre À Bout Portant (Saguenay) and Théâtre Cri (Saguenay), among others. Over the past ten years, she has collaborated on various theater research projects and presented her work in Quebec, Canada, Colombia, Mexico and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
