Marc R'Ogayoni Tchicot trained as a filmmaker in Gabon. After the Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français and the New York Film Academy, he returned to Libreville where he immersed himself in directing and graphic animation for commercials , music videos and cinema. Settled in Dakar since 2018, he drew his first sketches in 2020 and took up the challenge of digital painting in 2021. Three months after painting his first pictures, he took the gamble of investing in large-format prints of 3 works, and the enthusiasm generated paid off: demand called for new prints. His approach is based on the reappropriation of endogenous African paradigms, with the sacred feminine and symbols specific to the continent's rites and cosmogonies taking pride of place. The special feature of these works is that they are sold in 9 prints only. As the number 9 is a key symbol in traditional societies, associated with Life and its cycles, each buyer of a painting becomes the symbolic owner of a parcel of land. The idea here is to remind us that African Art is not intended to occupy a decorative function, but rather to participate in a search for balance and harmony involving the viewer. 2022 thus begins with the organization of his first public exhibition in Dakar: "RENAISSANCE".
