The Morija Museum and Archives houses the oldest surviving museum and archives in the Kingdom of Lesotho. As an institution with both extensive archive and museum collections and its own ongoing research projects and publication program, it attracts researchers from all over the world. For lovers of ancient and modern history, contemporary issues and trends, dinosaurs or living culture, the Morija Museum is an oasis of learning. Located in Morija, a historic town in Lesotho, the museum works closely with the community to preserve the region's heritage. Known as the source of learning, Morija is also considered Lesotho's city of the arts. Home to the nationally acclaimed Morija Arts and Culture Festival (1999-2013), this historic city is a melting pot of cultural, creative and artistic expression. Home to a number of ongoing cultural projects, as well as some notable artists, historians and researchers, Morija continues to attract widespread interest. At the heart of this city are the Morija Museum and Archives and its sister institutions, the Morija Arts Centre and The Hub @ Morija, which form the heart of the cultural district. The Morija Arts Centre (MAC) is an arts collective that hosts art and craft exhibitions, workshops and musical events. The MAC also runs the Maeder House Gallery, housed in the country's oldest building. The Hub is a digital creativity laboratory whose programs are designed to hone young people's skills in computer science, animation and filmmaking.
